Oh, so you want us to create a title sequence for one of the BBC’s most watched sporting programmes, for the world’s biggest tournament, that’s being hosted in a country shrouded in controversy? Cool! How could we celebrate football in its purest and most entertaining form; embodying the feeling of the World Cup with a specific dose of delicacy given who the host nation was? Let’s have a big dance.

THE SOLUTION

Iconic footage, vibrant animation and a remix of well-known commentary led to a memorable title sequence that split opinions and got chins wagging across the UK. Was it psychedelic and fun or was it a step too far for the traditional fan?
