THE BRIEF.

With the Scottish men’s national team finally heading off to a major international tournament (we’re not counting the 0-0 win at Wembley during Euro 2020), BBC Scotland wanted to capture the energy and excitement of this Tartan Army adventure for viewers back home.

They wanted spontaneous fun with famous faces and a real sense of how Scotland was taking to Germany.

THE SOMETHING.

Late Night at the Euros with Compston and Smart, an alternative take from Euro 2024 hosted by Line of Duty star Martin Compston and award-winning journalist and broadcaster Gordon Smart.

Broadcast nightly throughout the group stages, we produced 9x 30 minute shows in 12 days in front of a live studio audience in Munich.

Meanwhile, roving reporter Susie McCabe got in amongst the fan action and sampled the culture, as we shot 18 VTs all across Germany.

Night after night, we delivered a rampaging, chaotic, fun-packed show, filled with famous faces, made stars of regular Tartan Army fans and racked up millions of views across social media.
